About College Committees

The OPSEU and Loyalist College Management committees are composed of Local 420 members who are elected to represent faculty and counsellor interests as Stewards and represent member interests on these committees. Please do not hesitate to contact committee members to discuss your concerns as an OPSEU member.


The committee abbreviations stand for: LEC - Local Executive Committee, WMG - Workload Monitoring Group, JHSC - Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, UCC - Union/College Committee, CESC - College Employment Stability 

Local Executive Committee

Local Executive Committee (LEC) members are elected at a general membership meeting every three years. Stewards are elected to represent the interests of all Local 420 members; officers are elected to perform additional duties in support of the LEC. The current LEC members are listed below.

Workload Monitoring Group

The Workload Monitoring Group (WMG) is comprised of up to four Local 420 faculty members and four management representatives. This committee monitors and resolves workload issues arising under the collective agreement. The local WMG committee members review all SWFs to ensure that they are in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

If you have concerns about your workload, contact a steward on the Local Executive Committee or one of the members elected to the WMG listed below. You may also find it useful to review Article 11 in the collective agreement (CA) which can be found in the Essential Information area.

Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee

The two members who represent the interests of Local 420 on the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) are noted below. The Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee meets regularly to discuss health and safety issues at Loyalist College. If you have health and safety concerns, you should contact your immediate supervisor.

Union College Committee

The Union/College Committee (UCC) is comprised of up to three Local 420 members and up to three management representatives. The purview of UCC is explained in Article 7 in the collective agreement (CA) which can be found in the Essential Information area.
