Welcome OPSEU Part-Time Employee Group!
As we begin orientation, we want to ensure each member does not miss any important information or learning. We encourage you to follow the steps outlined below to get onboarded.
Important Information you DON'T want to miss! Understanding Your Rights
Now that you're on your way, we want to address the benefits, rights and obligations for the 5 member groups under the Part-Time Collective Agreement. Not all members have the same rights under the Collective Agreement (CA). To understand your rights, you need to understand which hiring group you belong to (see the list below). Please note that the Part-Time CA Summary outlines which rights under the CA you have based on your member group.

Regular Part-Time - Working continuously for not more than 24 hours a week or less, either 12 months or less than 12 months annually.

Casual - Working on an on-call basis, or do not have regularly scheduled shifts every week.

Temporary - Working continuously for not more than 24 hours a week or less, backfilling a regular part-time employee.

Student - A Student Worker, working 24 hours or less a week, in a position that is only available to current students of the college.

Project of a Non-Recurring Kind - Working continuously for not more than 24 hours a week or less, who are employed in projects of a non-recurring kind.
