All Support Staff (full-time, part-time, student and temporary or casual labour) are part of OPSEU Local 421. While staff are covered by the collective agreements, and dues are taken, you are not an active member until you SIGN your membership card.  Becoming a member of OPSEU is NOT AUTOMATIC! 

 

What are the benefits to being a signing membership?

• You become a member in ‘Good Standing’, entitled to support from the union, including:

  • vote rights 

  • strike pay,

  • hardship/top-up funds,

  • grievance or discipline support,

  • training and events (expenses paid),

  • Central and Local emails,

  • member discounts & scholarships.

• Signing increases funding to the Local to support:

  • time off allowances,

  • support resources to host local events.

Getting Started in 3 steps:

​

1. Sign your Membership Card and set up the OPSEU Member Portal Account.

   • Use a personal/non-work email, OPSEU and Local ONLY communicate via personal/non-work email.

   • For assistance Email membershipservices@opseu.org.

2. Contact your Local Executives and Introduce your self and provide your personal email.  

   • Full-time members are entitled to a 15 minute orientation meeting with the Local.

3. Visit the Training & Orientation to get onboarded. ​​​
